The Hot Ice Studio, located near Doe Bay on Orcas Island, is a complete, comprehensive production pottery studio. With both an electric and gas kiln, tables, slab roller, wheels, slip casting machine, glazes, spray booth along with all necessary and appropriate equipment and materials, the studio is available to offer the beginning, or the advanced, student a high quality, well designed, studio space for his or her creative activity.
The hourly fee for the use of the studio covers heat, light, water, and the use of equipment. The student supplies clay, glaze materials, personal tools, and the cost of maintaining / operating the kilns. Some materials and clay bodies are available for sale on site. Training in the use of the equipment and training related to creating pottery is not included in the studio fee.
An introduction to the studio, its equipment and materials, is available for the one hour studio use fee.
